?Al Sakali B&B is located in the village of Ragusa Ibla, it is the left part of a noble small palace: Palazzo Sortino Trono is proclaimed from the UNESCO as the common heritage of humanity. The B&B overlooks the neighbourhood of “Archi”, a meeting point between Ragusa Ibla (baroque neighbourhood) and the new city (upper Ragusa); built after a disastrous earthquake of 1693 that destroyed the whole city (at that time was medieval) and a great part of the southeast Sicily. It is an original structure based on various levels that together with the old medieval street plan forms an architecture that beautifies the panorama as you go through the narrow side streets. This B&B host 4 rooms all with private bathrooms, restored and furnished in typical Ragusa Ibla style; the old furniture in the house, including the floors and the original vaults, were also restored. Antonio and Giovanna, friendly and attentive owners, bought the house in the 80's when Ibla was still an 'old and abandoned' neighbourhood of Ragusa. Since UNESCO’s revaluation the town has changed a lot, and at the time they decided to open their house to travelers and show them the authenticity of the place.

Within easy reach of all the baroque-style towns like Ibla, Modica, Scicli and Noto, and also Caltagirone or Palazzolo Acreide (less famous than the first ones but equally enchanting); some more places of interest are Syracuse, Pantalica and Vendicari Natural Reserves and many hidden beaches with fine sand.

Highlights: Owners with passion for hospitality, accurate and original decoration (rooms have few and understated furniture but well chosen), bathrooms are decent and normal but small because of the old house structure, the owners spend time with their guests during breakfast and they are always happy to advice their guests on places to visit which are out of the traditional routes, ideal for couples.
